Otis Air National Guard Base, Buzzards Bay, MA
Contract # W912SV-10-D-0007-0004
Otis Air National Guard Base is located at the western portion of Cape Cod in Massachusettes and is named in honor of pilot and Boston surgeon, Lt. Frank Otis. Until 1973, then named Otis Air Force Base, the base was the largest Aerospace Defense Command Base in the world. In 2005, the decision was made to close Otis ANG Base, but the base was spared in the end. Currently, the 102d Intelligence Wing has been upgrading their facilities at the base to make them more up to date and more secure.
The construction of the Protective Distribution System project consisted of installing a new concrete encased communications duct bank running from the building to a secure manhole. The project included the excavation of an existing conduit duct bank, installing roughly 530 linear feet of new conduit and encasing both the existing and new in concrete. The project also included securing six manholes with security barriers, two security cages, and interior conduit. This project is a great addition to a highly secure communications network for Otis Air Naational Guard Base.
