This project represents another fine example of the vertical construction rehabilitation experience Classic possesses. This project included major structural modifications that were identified by Classic after construction started and incorporated safely into the work. Abatement and a complete demolition of the existing interior space along with modifying the exterior access to the space from a loading dock environment to an inviting and handicapped accessible public access was coordinated and performed. The new concrete stairs and ramp were built with Classic’s own labor forces and the surrounding areas re-graded and paved. Overhead doors and dock lifts were removed and replaced with storefront systems, again the required excavation, masonry, and cast in place concrete work was performed by Classic’s own specialized crews. There were new mechanical systems installed, including the lifting of large HVAC components to the roof. Existing mechanical systems upgraded and new electrical and plumbing provided. The required design and build out of offices incorporating shear walls within the metal stud wall system were again performed by Classics labor force. The transformation of this large utilitarian mail sorting facility space into the stringent requirements of a medical facility build out were met by Classics in-house resources/team.
